The system will sort by the check amount or check number but not by cleared status. This would be helpful in locating a check that was not cleared or one that was cleared inadvertently. You can sort by cleared status (Clr column) but it doesn't group the cleared items together, it works the same as clicking to have the checks in numerical order.
